What Should We Teach? Rethinking Literacy

This article talks about the twenty-first century literacy that is offered by the New Media Consortium (2005) and how is introduced to students today. Through the New Media Consortium students would be able to expand their new skills and still use their old skills.
In order for the students to be able to understand better and put in practice the new participatory culture they must be able to read and write. The New Digital cultures will provide support for the student and will help improve their core competencies as readers and writers which will help them receive feed back on their writing and also exceed and gain experience in their communications skills. Also through media students will develop better technical skills, like knowing how to search, use different programs, learn basic programming and also will give them a better perspective of the world.
